Future Distinguished Alumni Association Awards

On behalf of Pensacola State College, the PSC Alumni Association is seeking nominations for future Distinguished Alumni Association Awards. Deserving alumni of PSC/PJC who meet the selection criteria will be honored at the event.

There are five categories of awards:

  • Lifetime Achievement Award – alumnus who has reached state, regional or national recognition and represents the highest level of achievement in their profession or service.
  • Hometown Hero – alumnus who has achieved a measure of success within the College’s service area and who has demonstrated notable community involvement.
  • Against the Odds Award – alumnus who has achieved success despite financial, sociological, or physical adversity.
  • Rising Star Award – an alumnus, under the age of 40, who has a success story with potential for achievement in a state or national level.
  • Spirit of Pensacola State College – alumnus who exemplifies the highest standards and has made a lasting, significant impact on the lives of others through service to the College and Community.

Alumni Awards Categories and Criteria

This program will be hosted by the Pensacola State College Alumni Association and the Office of the President. Awardees will be recognized at the Pensacola State College Distinguished Alumni Awards Gala celebrating our distinguished alumni.

Categories and Criteria

  1. Lifetime Achievement Award
    • Must have a true success story in a state or national arena
    • Must express a clear, relevant impact of his/her college experience of nominee’s success
    • Must assure he/she will be available to attend the awards event
  2. Hometown Hero
    • Must have achieved a measure of success in the Pensacola State/Junior College service area and surrounding areas
    • Must have demonstrated notable community involvement
    • Must express a clear, relevant impact of his/her college experience of nominee’s success
    • Must assure he/she will be available to attend the awards event
  3. Against the Odds Award
    • Must have achieved a measure of success despite adversity (financial, sociological, physical, etc.)
    • Must express a clear, relevant impact of his/her college experience of nominee’s success
    • Must assure he/she will be available to attend the awards event
  4. Rising Star Award
    • Must have a success story but which has less or minimal achievement in a state or national level
    • Must express a clear, relevant impact of his/her college experience of nominee’s success
    • Must be under 40 years of age
    • Must assure he/she will be available to attend the awards event
  5. Spirit of Pensacola State College 
    • Must have achieved a measure of success in the Pensacola State/Junior College service area and surrounding areas
    • Must have demonstrated notable community involvement
    • Must express a clear, relevant impact of his/her college experience of nominee’s success
    • Must assure he/she will be available to attend the awards event

Ineligibility

The following groups are not eligible to receive the Pensacola State College Distinguished Alumni Awards:

  • Previous PSC/PJC Distinguished Alumni Award winners
  • Current PSC or Florida College System employees
  • Current Florida legislators
  • Current members of College District Board of Trustees
  • Current members of the Pensacola State College Alumni Board of Directors
  • Current members of the Pensacola State College Foundation Board of Directors
  • Posthumous nominations

  • Main Criteria: A PSC/PJC alumnus who has brought distinction to the college through a record of extraordinary service and achievement to a community, organization or cause. 
  • Factors for Consideration: Examples of good character, citizenship, and service to the community.
  • Other Professional or Personal Achievements: Additional professional or personal achievements.
  • Upload Supporting Documents: The attachment of relevant supporting documents (i.e., letters of recommendation, awards, resume, press clippings, etc.) is encouraged. To do so, please use the upload button below.
