ACCOUNTING SPECIALIST – JOB #2746
The Accounting Specialist position is a full-time career service position. The Accounting Specialist will participate in a variety of advanced and complex accounting tasks involving the maintenance of financial records and the processing of related data for the Foundation Office. The Accounting Specialist will audit requisitions and vouchers; budget amendments for accuracy and completeness; reconcile discrepancies; maintain budget controls; evaluate accounting processes; and make recommendations to improve efficiencies. The Accounting Specialist will coordinate and communicate with employees on P-card purchases and interact with college personnel and vendors on financial records. This position reports to the Director, Finance and Business Operations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from an accredited institution with an associate’s degree and two years accounting or bookkeeping experience. An aptitude and experience working with computer-based accounting systems. Related experience may be substituted for the required education. Successful results of a criminal background check are required.
Pursuant to College policy, it is an employment eligibility requirement for an applicant to meet the requirements of § 435.04(2), Florida Statutes, related to background investigations. Any person failing to meet the requirements of the statute will be deemed not qualified to hold employment in this position. A Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) approved background check will be conducted on every successful candidate as a condition of employment, and any person who fails to disclose any adverse information contained in the background investigation at the time of submitting the employment application will be disqualified from employment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Prefer a bachelors degree in an accounting related field; experience using Blackbaud Financial Edge, Excel, and other Microsoft products; strong communication skills; and nonprofit accounting experience.
ANNUAL SALARY: $27,825.00 ($14.21/hour)
