Pensacola State supporter and advocate Mary Hoxeng was bestowed an honorary Bachelor of Arts in Humane Letters degree from the College in October.
The College’s District Board Trustees Chairman Dr. Troy Tippett and President Ed Meadows presented Hoxeng with the honorary degree and a proclamation during the Oct. 18, 2022, board meeting on the Warrington campus.
A 2022 Pensacola State College Alumni Association Distinguished Alumni Award recipient, Hoxeng is a Pensacola State College Alumni Association Lifetime Charter Member.
She also is a Northwest Florida media magnate and known for her community involvement. Hoxeng and her husband, Dave, own four local radio stations ─ CatCountry 98.7, News Radio1620/92.3, WEBY-ESPN 1330/99.1 and Playlist 94.5.
Mary Hoxeng is general manager and chief operating officer of the four stations.
The Hoxengs have been supporters of the College since they moved to the area in 2002. The couple also established the Dave and Mary Hoxeng Endowed Scholarship for journalism students.
Active in the community, Mary Hoxeng serves on the Escambia County Tourist Development Advisory Council, the Escambia County Sheriff’s Foundation Board, the Florida Five Flags Fiesta Commission, the Five Flags Rotary Club Board, the Council on Aging of West Florida, ARC Gateway and is the Leadership Pensacola Alumni Board Chair.
She was previously membership chair for Impact 100 Pensacola Bay Area, is a Rotary Foundation Paul Harris Fellow and was one of the Pensacola News Journal’s 2010 “Women of the Year” award recipients.
In 2009, the Hoxengs were honored by the Greater Pensacola Chamber with the 2009 “Business Leaders of the Year” PACE award. In 2021, the couple were the recipients of the 2021 “Spirit of Pensacola” PACE Award.
